Bye Bye Brenda.
Stine Bramsen and Kajsa Vala have found each other in a friendship that is about more than music. Their soulful understanding quickly sparked a creative process where their voices blended into a kind of musical symbiosis. Stine had always dreamed of creating an album that made room for her more introverted side, and in meeting Kajsa, the floodgates opened to dare put words and melodies to vulnerability – and the framework for a new band began to take shape. It was just them, Kajsa’s guitar, and a desire to dive deep into melancholy and the darkness we all carry.
As women in midlife, both Kajsa and Stine feel a new freedom – a freedom to let go, to allow feelings and words to flow freely, unfiltered. Together they have created songs so closely connected to both of them that the boundaries blur. The songs feel universal, like stories of many women’s journeys through life, born of the singer-songwriter tradition where country and Americana set the stage for honest, poetic storytelling.
During the process, Stine bought a classic Ford Escort Cabriolet, a car that quickly earned the name “Brenda” – named after the legendary teenage icon from Beverly Hills 90210. Just like the TV show’s Brenda, the car became a symbol of something authentic, grounded, yet also dreamy and fearless – a kind of spiritual guide for Stine and Kajsa. And when it came time to find a name for their new band, it was natural to let “Brenda” live on. So, with the feeling that their youth was far behind them, they both said: “Bye Bye Brenda,” and the band was born.
Now, a year later, their album is complete. Together they have created a collection of songs that carry their unique sound and an intimate atmosphere that reaches deep and wide. Inspired by names like Kacey Musgraves, Bon Iver, and Phoebe Bridgers, the album is an honest and organic journey. Kajsa plays all the instruments herself and co-produced the album with Søren Christensen. The result is exactly the album Kajsa and Stine dreamed of: a warm, raw, and resonant universe.
