Autumn Holiday at Klosterlund Museum
October 13 and 19, 2025, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. (closed Friday)
Turnip lanterns, apple pressing and other fun for children
As always, the museum offers outdoor workshops for children with blacksmithing, turnip carving, apple fun and much more. In other words, it will be an autumn holiday filled with experiences, learning and coziness for both young and old. The whole family can also explore the museum’s exhibitions and look for hidden signs in the dark.
Monday, October 13 & Tuesday, October 14, 11 AM – 3 PM.
Archaeological workshop
Feel the thrill of the past in the archaeological workshop. With archaeologists Lea and Cæcilie, visitors can try their hand at post-excavation work and sense the touch of history. Lea and Cæcilie share their knowledge and tell about the excavation of the famous Iron Age village at Hedegård. You can also help wash pottery shards from the Iron Age and make new discoveries. Monday, October 13 – Sunday, October 19, 11 AM – 3 PM (closed Friday)
Meet Nina Lund and go pottery-crazy
On Monday during the autumn holiday, the renowned ceramic artist Nina Lund visits the museum. During the holiday, visitors can drop by Nina Lund’s workshop at the museum and make their own stepping stones. At the same time, they can see and hear about Nina’s work and have a chat about stepping stones and ceramics. You can also help cook food over the fire in ceramic pots – just like in the time of the Tollund Man.
Monday, October 13, 11 AM – 3 PM.
Pop-up exhibition about Hedegård
In the museum courtyard, a pop-up exhibition presents finds and stories from the Iron Age village at Hedegård, where the inhabitants once fortified themselves in fear of the Romans. Both this summer and last summer, the museum’s archaeologists excavated a fortification in this 2,000-year-old village.
Note: The museum is open all week EXCEPT Friday, when it is closed.
