Around Bølling Lake
3 June 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Take part in a guided 12 km hike around Bølling Lake and learn about the lake’s history – from its formation over 10,000 years ago, through its drainage around 150 years ago, to its restoration just over 20 years ago.
The tour is ideal for nature lovers and offers insights into local flora and fauna. Along the way, there will be regular stops where the guide shares information about the surrounding sites.
The route passes some of Denmark’s oldest known Stone Age settlements as well as the discovery sites of the Tollund Man and the Elling Woman. You will also hear about the peat industry that once dominated the area.
Your guide is Per Hønholt Christensen, who grew up nearby and has closely followed the restoration of the lake.
The tour starts at Klosterlund Museum in Engesvang and takes place in gently hilly terrain. It lasts approximately 4 hours and is not suitable for people with limited mobility.
There is an option to end the day with dinner at Bøllingsø Bryghus (pre-booking required).
