Christmas at Jens Nielsen’s Farm
On November 7, 2026, Frilandsmuseet Herning and the associations at Historiens Hus invite families to a Christmas market from 10:00 to 15:00. Enjoy old Christmas traditions, creative activities and cosy experiences for children and adults.

Christmas at Jens Nielsen’s Farm offers a welcoming day of Christmas traditions, local history and activities at Frilandsmuseet Herning.
The associations at Historiens Hus come together to create a cosy Christmas market with a variety of stalls. In the Landsbylauget Christmas room, families can make their own Christmas tree decorations inspired by old traditions, while children can try making a traditional wax apple.
The historic houses are open throughout the day, and visitors can explore Inge Faurtoft’s perspective boxes depicting Jens Nielsen’s life and the changing seasons on his farm.
At 11:00, Mette Mode’s well-known Christmas elves are awakened. The elves have been part of Christmas in Herning since 1988 and are brought out from their stay in the museum’s storage facilities.
Admission is free for both children and adults, making it an inviting opportunity to enjoy local history and Christmas traditions together in Herning.
