Huset i Ikast (The House in Ikast)

The House in Ikast is a sculpture by the Danish artist Per Kirkeby, built in 1973 and located in Højris Park on Per Kirkebys Vej in Ikast.

It is Kirkeby’s first sculpture in the public space and was constructed as a freestanding artistic structure in red brick. The sculpture is not intended as a functional building, but as an artistic expression within the urban space and through the material of brick – a material Kirkeby worked extensively with throughout his artistic career. The House takes the form of a square structure with a roof and brickwork patterns, and although it resembles a house, it functions solely as a site-specific artwork created for the public space.
