Werther

The opera of broken hearts is on the stage when talented soloists, opera chorus singers and musicians perform the opera 'Werther' in MCH Herning Congress Center (Herning Kongrescenter).

The opera, which is produced by “Den Jyske Opera”, was performed for the first time in 1892 at the Vienna Court Opera. It is based on Goethe's novel 'The Sorrows of Young Werther' (1774), which is considered to be the first bestseller in German literature. In its time, the novel created a so-called 'Werther mania' throughout Europe. Young men identified so strongly with Goethe's protagonist, Werther, that several followed in his footsteps and took their own lives.

The opera is performed on the original language – French.
