The Occupied Herning - City Walk

Monday, May 6, 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM.

On Monday, May 6, Museum Midtjylland hosts a thematic city walk about the occupation years in Herning.

Join us on a dramatic journey through occupied Herning, where we visit selected locations from the time of the war. Starting at the square, we make our first stop at the old gymnasium, where we will hear about some innocent boyish pranks that nearly ended badly.

On Pontopidansvej, we tell the story of a desperate escape attempt by the leader of the local resistance movement, which later played a significant role in the spread of pornography in Denmark. We then pass the old mission hotel on Skolegade, where the Germans had their headquarters during the last part of the occupation years.

The tour ends in Dalgasgade, where we will learn more about the railway sabotage in Herning.
