Experience an opera classic of the greats at the MCH Herning Congress Center on 24 November.

For the opening of the Suez Canal and the opening of the new Khedivial Opera House in Cairo in 1869, the Italian composer Guiseppe Verdi had been asked to write a hymn, which he refused. One played his opera Rigoletto instead. However, the Egyptian regent subsequently did not give up and still wanted an opera from Verdi's hand in "Egyptian style".

After some years, some tug of war and a huge financial incentive, Verdi said yes, writing Aida about the Ethiopian princess and slave suffering a grim fate.
